WHY ARE YOU STILL CARRYING HER?

Two monks were walking to a monastery. Standing in front of the flooded road was a young girl dressed in a beautiful kimono. The older monk picked her up in his arms and carried her to dry land. Later that night, the young monk asked: “As monks we are told not to think about women much less touch them. Why did you carry her across the water?” The older monk replied: “I placed her on dry land hours ago. Why are you still carrying her?” Do our ideas prevent us from doing the right thing? How often do we allow past events to cloud our experience of the present and lessen our ability to listen with an open mind? Every moment is fresh. See it. Live it.
